i have been traveling back and forth to ny to visit a student who just had spinal surgery to correct scoliosis. horrid. the poor thing is suffering so much. so i have been spending the days with her to help alleviate some of her misery. she is drugged heavily most of the time but she does know that i am there. hopefully she will come home tomorrow. i am 'babysitting' her while her mom takes care of some business in baltimore. dad is away on a job as well. not sure if i will be at the hospital or her home. hafting will accompany me, she is a better caretaker than i anyway.
the end of the summer program was rather uneventful. i finished with a nice healthy check. at least enough to get me through the remainder of the summer.
i am working on my website. the URL is [link]
it's not really functional yet, but i hope to have it up in the next two weeks.
i got a job offer of sorts for some freelance work. the parent of another student owns her own graphic design company. i honestly don't feel confident enough to present my portfolio, but i may give it a shot just to get an opinion. she did solicit it me for some information about teaching her and her staff how to use illustrator cs. basically i would be running a workshop. so i am going to have to put together a portfolio and contact her about this. i haven't had a proper graphic design portfolio since 1999. sheesh. better get to it. most of the stuff i have is schmaltzy work for friends and everythign i have been doing for the school. i guess it's better than nothing. we shall see.
i will be uploading some refinishing work that i did on a battered tv cabinet. this thing was awreck. i did a crackle style refinish to it. i have to finish the stiles on the two glass doors but otherwise the piece is completed and polyeurethaned. i guess it's better than nothing.
=kizioko finished the piece that i asked her for.

she is mailing it soon. i am going to try to set her up with a print account. everyone should check out her work and buy stuff once she is set. it is damn good. check it out:
